    Tuckpointing

The process of replacing deteriorating mortar in the joints between bricks. Also known as "pointing" and "repointing," tuck pointing is necessary when the mortar becomes loose, which threatens the stability of the structure that it supports.

Ask Mike:

On the Left is an example of the quality of our work

On the right is an example of the quality of low cost work.

Q : I was quoted a price that was much cheaper than yours, why should I go with your company?
A: A picture is worth a thousand words.

Q: When should tuckpointing occur?
A: Each situation is different. A professional should check any signs of mortar droppings or cracking in the wall.

Q: Can water enter through the masonry?
A: Most definitely. Water seeks the lowest level and does get behind the masonry.

Q: When do I do waterproofing?
A: Whenever water holds or penetrates on a soft brick - these bricks should be waterproofed.

Q: What will happen if I try to save money using an unprofessional tuckpointing company?
A:We really do not like to show sloppy or unprofessional work, but we would like you to see what we see. This is the result of trying to save money using an unprofessional company!

Q: How do I know how to hire a professional Tuckpointing contractor?
A. Is he licensed? Union tuckpointers have 4 years of training before they are able to become a professional tuckpointer. Always check references before allowing work to be performed.

Q: My roofer says I need inside parapet wall tuckpointing. What does that mean?
A. An exterior wall that is higher than the roof level is called a parapet wall. This wall must be in good condition so the roof can provide a proper seal. If this is not properly sealed, it will leak.
