A: Each situation is different. A professional should check any signs of mortar droppings or cracking in the wall.

Q: Can water enter through the masonry?

A: Most definitely. Water seeks the lowest level and does get behind the masonry.

Q: When do I do waterproofing?

A: Whenever water holds or penetrates on a soft brick - these bricks should be waterproofed.

Q: What will happen if I try to save money using an unprofessional tuckpointing company?

Q: How do I know how to hire a professional Tuckpointing contractor?

A. Is he licensed? Union tuckpointers have 4 years of training before they are able to become a professional tuckpointer. Always check references before allowing work to be performed.

Q: My roofer says I need inside parapet wall tuckpointing. What does that mean?

A. An exterior wall that is higher than the roof level is called a parapet wall. This wall must be in good condition so the roof can provide a proper seal. If this is not properly sealed, it will leak.
